WINCHENDON PUBLIC LIBRARAY, 50 PLEASANT ST. WINCHENDON MA. “Secrets of the Quabbin Watershed” is a book released by Dale Monette and Haley Publishing in September of 2017. Dale has spent 0ver 4 years with many thousands of hours on the 82,000 acre Quabbin Reservoir watershed in central MA photographing wildlife and now 130 of his best photographs will be released in a beautiful book. Here are his stories and photographs of the animals of Quabbin as they go about their daily routines on the Quabbin Watershed. His vivid photographic show of the same name is a perfect compliment to his book. Both are coupled with informative, engaging narrative. The Jacob Edwards Library is pleased to invite Dale Monette to return and present an homage to birds, from his extensive collection of photographs taken in the Quabbin area and further afield.
2018 marks the centennial of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the most powerful and important bird-protection law ever passed. In honor of this milestone, National Geographic, the National Audubon Society, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and BirdLife International have joined forces with more than 100 other organizations and millions of people around the world to celebrate 2018 as the “Year of the Bird.” This effort aims to heighten public awareness of birds because of their wonder and beauty—and because they symbolize nature’s interconnectedness and the importance of caring for our shared planet. The Jacob Edwards Library is pleased to contribute to this program.
Mr. Monette's work is available to view on his website North Quabbin Photography . He regularly updates the site with new images from his hikes in and around the Quabbin. In 2017, Dale Monette launched his book of photography Secret Lives of the Quabbin Watershed.
